Sometimes I feel like I don’t have things figured out.
I look for guidance from others… which can even sometimes turn into looking for acceptance from others. Quite the slippery slope, huh!
But the truth is, I know we are all just making it up as we go. And that applies to creativity as well. Look around you. Almost everything is made up. Roads, furniture, clothing, computers, phones, money, you name it. Human creativity in action.
And of course we can’t forget stories. Stories are the most powerful thing in the world because they only require your imagination. Making a story is something you can start doing right now.
Technology becomes obsolete. Furniture falls apart. Money loses value. But stories remain. We love them, we are captivated by them. Even when we dream, we are just telling ourselves stories when we sleep.
Stories matter. Embrace them. Stories bring us together and promote healing and even bring hope.
That’s why I’ve been sharing my new novel, Standoff At Sundown, as much as I possibly can. It’s story about a broken man, Jake McCall, seeking justice and making a difference by going up against a dangerous gang.
As you know, things don’t often go like we would expect. There are always a few exciting twists and turns. I’d like to invite you to go on an adventure. Maybe it’s picking up my book. If you do, I’m truly honored and grateful. Maybe westerns aren’t your thing. I get that. Maybe it’s time for you to tell YOUR STORY. Maybe it’s time to face your fears and say, “I’m a writer, and I’m writing a book!” If this is the case, please leave a comment. I want to help however I can.
Maybe it’s time to tell your story in some other way, like starting a podcast or a business or dusting off that old instrument you haven’t picked up in quite a while to share your story in the form of a song.
Stories matter. Stories change lives. I hope you’ll share your story now.
I agree, stories do matter. Congratulations on writing yours. That’s quite an accomplishment!
I think we are all just making it up as we go. That's why a lot of us feel like we are imposters. I think as long as you are maybe 10 steps ahead, you can still help someone else. It's like parenting. Ok, I don't know everything, but I know how to tie a shoe. I know what it's like to be picked on in school. I know how tough that transition was from high school to the adult years. But yeah, I'm not an expert. But I know something.
Good points shared here :)
